Spring is No Time for Colds!!

No one likes having a cold, but they are especially annoying when they come on just as the weather is  becoming beautiful. Everyone else is enjoying the smell of blossoming flowers and feeling excited about the sunshine while you're all frustrated and stuffed up with a sore throat wishing you could crawl into a hole!

Well, this year, just as the temperature was rising, the birds were singing and the sunshine was starting to show its face every morning, I started to feel the tell-tale tightness in my throat. NOOOOOOOoooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Fast forward a week, and I was feeling back to my normal self ... completely!! Here is how I did it:

As soon as I felt that weird, tight, sore-ish throat, I started rolling oregano essential oil diluted with fractionated coconut oil on my feet at night and in the morning. In the mornings I sipped on a drink of  1 drop of lemon and 1 drop of OnGuard (dōTERRA's protective blend) blended into a 1/2 teaspoon of honey, dissolved in hot water. That mixture soothed my throat and supported my immune system while it went to battle.

When my throat bothered me during the day time, I would have an OnGuard soothing drop and drink plenty of fluids.

As the sinus congestion came on, I put a drop of peppermint essential oil on my palm, rubbed it together with my other palm, and then inhaled the menthol to clear my sinuses. I also applied my head tension relief roller (frankincense, peppermint and lavender) along my hairline and at the back of my neck. Breathe respiratory drops were also fantastic for supporting me during this stage of the illness.

At bedtime I diffused EasyAir (dōTERRA's respiratory blend) and I would also use my EasyAir roller on my temples and chest before laying down for bed.

The best part? I felt empowered to look after myself every step of the way and the cold virus lasted for only a few days rather than the week or two that it usually does. Whenever I felt uncomfortable, there was something tangible that I could do to improve my symptoms while also helping my body fight the root cause.

Everyone should have these tools at their finger tips! I especially wish I had them back in my pregnancy days when there were not many options for over-the-counter assistance with all of the pesky symptoms.
