Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense is one of those oils that nearly everyone has heard of. If you haven't heard of it for its many benefits, perhaps you have heard that it was a gift from one of the three wise men at Jessus' birth.

Even the Babylonians used frankincense in religious ceremonies, and the Egyptians used it in perfumes and in salves to soothe skin.

Frankincense is steam distilled from the resin of Boswellia carterii, frereanaand sacra. The main active components include: α-pinene, limonene and α-thujene. dōTERRA sources the frankincense from Somaliland and Puntland (north of Somalia). The growers are paid well and dōTERRA has shown their gratitude by building a school there. dōTERRA is committed co-impact sourcing and this is one of the many things I love about being part of the dōTERRA team.
Some of frankincense's many uses include supporting healthy cellular, immune, nervous, and digestive function.

I like to combine 5 -7 drops with approx. 9.5 ml of sweet almond oil in a roller bottle. I roll it on my face after I shower in the morning and blend it in gently. It has been fantastic for my skin!

I also use like to diffuse it with lavender at night to help me sleep soundly and without grinding my teeth.

It's really great for soothing sore and tired hands when you add some to unscented lotion.

Last but not least, I blend frankincense with peppermint and lavender in some fractionated coconut oil. I put it in a roller bottle and carry it with me everywhere. You never know when a friend or coworker might have a headache and could use some relief. This roller is fabulous rolled along the hairline and along the back of the neck. I applied the same blend to my son's belly and feet this morning when he stayed home sick with a stomach bug. He is now happily hanging out munching on small bits of food and sipping some juice.
